Wishing to develop with Caffenol once again, Caffenol is a homemade developer made from household items. Going with the DIY theme it was time to also use the Spinmatic!

The Spinmatic is a device to rotate the spindle in a film development tank automatic. The timer and the interval are set on the Spinmatic then you sit back and wait until it beeps on completion. The flush out the developer and add in Fixer and use the Spinmatic once again for the fixing of the film. That simple!

Caffenol Development

I would develop my two rolls of Ilford film together using my 3D printed Spinmatic for 12 minutes with a rotation every 10 seconds.

My Caffenol recipe which I used before.

You read about the Spinmatic on my Electronic/Coding blog –http://i386.com/2018/04/spinmatic-automated-film-development/

I had used up two rolls of Ilford, one Pan F 50 ISO, and Pan 100 ISO. The Pan F seemed a little underexposed compared to the Pan 100 from looking at my result scanned into my computer using SilverFast.

Using e-Paper

I try to keep this blog as much about photography as possible. However any chance of a crossover between a process, technology or art I must admit I love to include it on the blog.

Therefore I could not resist using one of the scanned negatives and uploading into a development e-Paper IoT board. Basically, e-Paper is what is used inside the Amazon Kindle. The technology allows an image to remain on the screen without current. So once the data is set into the display it’s in theory there forever until the next data is sent.

The board I’m using isn’t expensive under $30 for the 4.2″ black/white/yellow. The product is from Waveshare
